Weekly Baseline | Week 1
When It’s Quiet... Keep Going!
What This Is
A 5-minute weekly baseline for people carrying leadership, family, and life
One core truth, one anchor scripture, and a 7-day baseline plan
I pray as I write these like a pastor would… with you in mind
Not a paid member yet? Use the 7-day trial
Editors Note: My faith shapes how I think and lead. This baseline draws from Scripture, but the practices are built to strengthen anyone leading under pressure.
The Anchor for the Week
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…” Colossians 3:23 (NIV)
Waiting for what’s next can feel brutal because silence tests our faith… and it exposes how badly we desire control.
This can show up when you’re between roles, waiting on a decision, carrying pressure at work, or doing the right things and still not seeing traction.
And this isn’t only for the person who feels like they are “waiting.” Sometimes you are still moving and doing the right things… but progress feels quiet. That quiet stretch can mess with you, especially if you are wired to build, fix, and move things forward.
In my experience this is when leaders make their worst decisions… making decisions out of compulsion.
The Baseline
There have been MANY times when my wife Christine and I have lived through a phase like this… in-between jobs, ministry assignments, or direction for our family.
One of those phases was 3 years long, and I knew I had one directive in front of me, “get your house in order.” I instantly knew this applied to every area of our life as a family, including physical, spiritual, emotional, and financial.
That phase was hard because it was so elongated… and let’s be honest, obedience can look dull in a results oriented society. There is no bright shiny thing to point to… but in the long run, today’s obedience will far outweigh any temporary relief I would get by trying to make things happen before their time.
So here is what we do to move through phases like this, especially when progress feels quiet, and come out stronger on the other side.
